Freshwater organisms

Sazagawa, Ainowuragawa and Emukaegawa flow into theKujukushima, which supports the abundant waters of Kujukushima. Around these streams, there are many paddy fields, ponds and so on. These paddy fields and ponds are full of fish, shrimp and shellfish, so that their diversity can be preserved.

Sasakawa, the longest river in the northern part of Nagasaki, flows into Kujukushima sea, taking Kunimiyama as its source. Crabs and shellfish live in the mud of the estuary. Nutrient-rich water flows into Kujukushima sea. Sazagawa, the habitat of many organisms, is the source of the abundant waters of Kujukushima.

Creeks are excavated occasionally for irrigating fields. Although it is creek excavated artificially, there are many creatures living here, which are the coexistence products of nature and human beings.
